DAY 02 SALTA – CITY TOUR

Breakfast at the hotel, City Tour. We will discover the most emblematic and attractive sites of the city of Salta on a tour designed for those who wish to combine history, architecture, culture, and unique landscapes. This tour offers a complete experience, allowing you to explore both the urban heart and the surrounding areas that reflect the region's rich natural and cultural heritage.

The tour begins at the Salta Cathedral Basilica, built in 1855, one of the city's main architectural and religious symbols. Inside lie the remains of General Martín Miguel de Güemes, a hero of the independence movement, making this a site of great historical and spiritual significance. A short walk away is the Cultural Center of the Americas, a space dedicated to artistic and cultural promotion, where temporary exhibitions, workshops, and activities related to regional identity are held.

We continue to the Historical Museum of the North, located in the old Cabildo (town hall), which offers a detailed view of Salta's history through its exhibitions of sacred art and rooms dedicated to the old families that shaped the city's development. This museum allows visitors to understand not only the historical aspects but also the customs, traditions, and daily life of Salta in bygone eras.

The tour continues with the Minor Basilica of San Francisco, famous for its imposing facade and unique architectural details, and the San Bernardo Convent of the Carmelite Order, a place that reflects the spirituality and religious history of the city. Next, we head to the Güemes Monument, a tribute to the general's bravery and leadership in the defense of the region during the War of Independence. To appreciate the city from another perspective, we ascend San Bernardo Hill, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view encompassing both the historic center and the surrounding landscapes of Salta. During the descent, we pass by the February 20th Monument, the site of the historic Battle of Salta (a battle against Spain in the War of Independence), commemorating the events that marked a turning point in national history.

The tour also includes a visit to the summer resort town of San Lorenzo, located on the outskirts of the city. Known for its subtropical microclimate, green spaces, and natural surroundings, it's ideal for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. There you'll find the Artisan Market, showcasing certified handicrafts from across the province, offering the opportunity to appreciate and purchase unique products that reflect Salta's cultural identity. Overnight stay.
