DAY 01 ARRIVAL IN MEXICO CITY
Arrival at Mexico City International Airport, welcome and reception by the staff. During the transfer to the hotel, the guide will provide instructions about the routes. Check-in at the hotel (rooms are available after 3:00 PM). Overnight stay.
DAY 02 MEXICO CITY TOUR â COYOACAN â XOCHIMILCO
After the included breakfast, we will begin our tour of the historic center of the "City of Palaces," as it was once known for its beautiful colonial buildings. You will visit: Constitution Square or ZĂłcalo, the National Palace with the famous Diego Rivera murals (authorities permitting), the Metropolitan Cathedral, and a panoramic view of the Aztec Templo Mayor (from the pre-Hispanic era), as well as the main avenues and monuments. We will continue the tour with a stop in downtown CoyoacĂĄn, located in the south of Mexico City, perhaps with the most pleasant atmosphere thanks to its quiet streets and stately mansions. We will then continue to the ancient canals of Xochimilco, a World Heritage Site, where we will board a typical colorful trajinera (boat) and admire the chinampas (islands planted with flower and vegetable crops). On the way back, we'll visit the University City (UNAM) to admire the murals by Juan O'Gorman, the Mexico 68 Olympic Stadium, the National Library, and the Rector's Office buildings. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.
DAY 03 BASILICA â TEOTIHUACĂN â MEXICO
After the included breakfast, we'll head to the Plaza of the Three Cultures and visit the ancient Tlatelolco market. We'll continue to the Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the sanctuary of the patron saint of Mexicans. Here, we'll admire Juan Diego's original mantle with the Virgin Mary. Time for mass is guaranteed. We'll continue our tour of the TeotihuacĂĄn archaeological site, where we'll see the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, as well as other equally important ruins. We'll also receive a brief explanation about the production of pulque, "The White Liquor," a traditional drink of pre-Hispanic Mexico, and obsidian crafts. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
DAY 04 CUERNAVACA â TAXCO â MEXICO
After the included breakfast, we will depart for Cuernavaca, the "City of Eternal Spring." There, we will visit the Historic Center with its beautiful Cathedral, the oldest in Mexico. We will continue to the Pueblo MĂĄgico (Magical Town) of Taxco. It is a small colonial city located at the foot of the Sierra Madre del Sur mountain range. It boasts a unique architectural style characterized by its cobblestone streets and white stucco houses with red-tiled roofs. The wrought-iron balconies in the windows are often filled with beautiful hanging flowers. Taxco is also known as the silver-producing capital of Mexico, so you will find a wide variety of silver items to purchase. We will enjoy some free time along the cobblestone streets, visit the Santa Prisca Cathedral, and soak up the atmosphere of a typical Mexican town. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.
DAY 05 MEXICO CITY AIRPORT
After the included breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport at the scheduled time for your return flight. (Regardless of the airport transfer time, you must vacate your room by noon.)
