What is the EES, how does it affect your passengers, and what do you need to know to prepare their journeys without problems.
The European Union has implemented the EES (Entry/Exit System), a border control system that affects all non-European travelers, including citizens of Latin America who currently do not require a visa to enter the Schengen Area.
What is the EES?
The EES (Entry/Exit System) replaces the old manual passport stamping at European borders. The entire process is digital and automatic, registering travelers' entry and exit upon arrival at the country's border, without the passenger having to do anything before traveling.
Changes for travelers:
Who is affected?
All citizens of non-EU countries entering any of the Schengen Area countries, even if they do not require a visa.
Current Implementation Status
Biometric data collection and digital registration are being phased in at airports and external borders across
urope starting October 12, 2025. The system will be fully operational at all points of entry no later than April 10, 2026.
